FEC Reports Released: Jay Looking Strong

In a stunning development early in the presidential campaign, the Federal Election Commission (FEC) reports released today show that the Jay Leno for President campaign has raised the least of any presidential candidate ever in a first quarter. In fact, so little was raised in Jay's unofficial and unannounced campaign, that his name was not even mentioned in the reports that track the fundraising and spending of presidential candidates.

According to the Jay Leno for President campaign, Jay has by far the least to spend in the both the primary and general elections of any candidate in the '08 field. The non-existent amount raised ($0 overall, $0 since we launched the campaign in early February) reflects the strength of support for Jay from every walk of life and in every part of America. Supporters everywhere realize that this campaign is about Jay and not about the money. In that spirit, not one penny has been raised to date.

"Jay's popularity with the voters is so great, nobody wants to contribute anything," says one unrecognized campaign source, "and that's what really sets him so far above the other candidates."

And the gap is widening. For instance, the FEC reports indicated that the Hillary campaign has an enormous amount of cash-on-hand to spend ($31 million, of which $24 million is for the primary and $7 million for the general election). Other candidates are not far behind.

Let 'em waste their money trying to buy favor with American voters. It simply won't work. You can't buy the kind of laughs that will endear voters to Jay's candidacy. Without even knowing that he's running, nor even acknowledging the existence of this very campaign, Jay continues to build momentum day-after-day, night-after-night. That's popularity!
