Campaigning Door-to-Door for Jay
We're back!
The Jay Leno for President campaign took a week-long hiatus from blog-posts to get face-to-face with grassroot supporters. Over the past seven days, our door-to-door campaign through Brentwood, Bel-Air, Beverly Hills, and other L.A. suburbs beginning with the letter "B" generated huge interest in drafting Jay as a presidential candidate.
Many residents were excited to hear that a "neighbor" of theirs might actually be persuaded to run for the White House. "He'd be ideal for the job," said one well-know star, "and a heck of a lot funnier than the others who are running. I'd vote for him in an L.A. minute."
Others were surprised at the number of grassroot supporters that have gotten behind the Jay Leno for President campaign. "I don't follow politics too closely," commented the popular star of an undisclosed daytime drama. "But I'm impressed that Jay's doing so well, especially since he doesn't even know there's a campaign to draft him. Now that's popularity."
Many people we talked to requested yard-signs and bumper-stickers, and, had we any, we could have distributed hundreds. However, in keeping with our commitment to raise and spend $0 on the Jay Leno for President campaign, we haven't produced any campaign paraphenalia. We'll leave it to Jay's Democratic and Republican challengers to spend tens of millions blighting the American landscape (and, later, clogging American landfills) with their signs, stickers, flyers, and other garbage. We'll keep to the high road and build support for Jay by simple word-of-mouth and millions of visits to our campaign site.
Door-to-door campaigns are underway in hundreds communities across the country, with die-hard grassrooters taking the message "Let's Draft Jay" to the people one voter at a time. If you'd like to start your own door-to-door campaign for Jay, it's easy. Simply knock on doors up and down your street. Tell them about the Jay Leno for President campaign. Ask them to knock on doors, too.
As of this post, Jay Leno has not yet declared he's running, and hasn't acknowledged this campaign, but we're confident that the groundswell of support from our door-knocking efforts will let him know just how many people want him as our next president.
